Prayer for Freedom from Temptation and Addiction

Encouragement for anyone battling temptation in silence.

 

Break every chain and walk in the freedom Christ has given you. This prayer is for anyone struggling with harmful habits, unhealthy addictions, or anything that feels hard to overcome.

Heavenly Father,

I come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, honest and ready for freedom. You see every struggle within me—every weakness, every temptation, and every hidden battle. Nothing is hidden from You.

Your Word says, “Whom the Son sets free is free indeed” (John 8:36). So today I receive the freedom that comes through Jesus Christ.

Lord, I bring before You every area of struggle in my life. I ask You to break every chain and help me turn away from anything that pulls me away from You. You are my strength and my help.

Your Word says, “I will not be mastered by anything” (1 Corinthians 6:12). So I choose to live under Your control and not under anything that leads me away from You.

Father, renew my mind.
“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2).
Cleanse my thoughts and guide my desires toward what is good, pure, and pleasing to You.

Lord, when temptation comes, remind me that You are faithful. Your Word says that You always provide a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13). Give me the strength to choose that way every time.

Help me to walk in the life of the Spirit. Your Word says, “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires” (Galatians 5:24). Teach me to walk in step with You daily.

Holy Spirit, fill my life with peace, strength, and self-control. Where there was struggle, bring stability. Where there was weakness, bring strength. Where there was bondage, bring freedom.

Your Word says, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). I receive a sound mind today.

I choose to follow You, Lord. I choose life, obedience, and freedom in Christ.
